The Lord Upholds Your Life

The Lord upholds my life. This is the response of the Responsorial Psalm today.

Stop and reflect for a moment. Does the Lord uphold your life?

Yes, He does! But, do you let Him?

What does it mean to live each day in this truth? The Lord, and He alone, upholds my life.

These days, it seems that nothing is certain. There is confusion, fear, and division all around.

But still, the Lord upholds my life. Surrender everything to Him.

Entrust God

The second reading tells us that it is when we look to our own ambitions, without God, there can be only turmoil and war. However, a life entrusted to God, with humility and total surrender is upheld. All good, all peace, all mercy comes from Him.

In the Gospel, the Lord is preparing his disciples for not only His death but His Resurrection. They did not understand what He was telling them, but He still prepared them so that when they were living through the tragedy of His death, they would remember, there is always the promise of Life, of being raised up in God. The disciples were distracted with earthly, prideful conversation. It is then that Jesus calls our attention to a child.

The child, simple, docile, and trusting.

Let us too with watchful eyes see that the Lord upholds our life.

We can trust him, we can receive Him in the way we receive a child, and then we receive the “One who sent me,” the One who upholds our life.
