This season calls us into a deeper love and communion with our Lord. We choose to either give things up, make sacrifices, or grow in holiness for 40 days. But, what about when the 40 days of Lent are over?
I imagine how happy we make our Father during the Lenten season – giving Him our undevoted time, attention, prayer, and fasting… only to abandon Him until next Lent. Christ is there waiting for us every day, wanting us to show up for Him the same way He shows up for us.
“In a time of favor I answer you, on the day of salvation I help you.” (Is 49:8) “Along the ways they shall find pasture, on every bare height shall their pastures be. They shall not hunger or thirst, nor shall the scorching wind or the sun strike them; For he who pities them leads them and guides them beside springs of water. I will cut a road through all my mountains, and make my highways level.” (Is 49:11-13)
Move Mountains
God’s love for us can literally move mountains, but we have to want them to move. He will never force himself or His love onto us, He wants us to freely choose it. If we showed up for God the same way we show up for Him during Lent, what would our lives look like? How much better would our world be?
As we approach Easter Sunday, plan to continue your Lenten promises or make new promises to hold throughout the whole year. Can you visit Christ in Adoration weekly? Can you go to an extra daily Mass during the week? Can you spend more time in prayer with your spouse or family? Whatever ways you can show God that you want Him to move mountains for you, do it.
“The Lord is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon Him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18)
