Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you.
As I am blessed to write today’s reflection, one word stood out to me. The word is “peace.” Peace is something that we ask for in our prayers, but how often do we truly live in peace?
The dictionary definition of “peace” is “Freedom from disturbance; or tranquility;” however, I believe that when it comes to our faith lives, peace can mean so much more.
True Peace
Peace is often held as a focus point for many of us in our daily lives. Everyone is striving to live in peace, but true peace comes from finding God in the midst of the storm we often find ourselves in.
God does not want us to hang a “do not disturb” sign in our lives. True Peace comes from within when we decide to leave our own personal comfort zones and pursue God with the fullness of our hearts in all situations that come our way. True Peace comes from seeking God in each and every moment of our daily lives and trusting his divine plan over our own. “Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. You heard me tell you, I am going away and I will come back to you.” John 14
Walk with God
When we begin to give up our safe and small thoughts about God, we can then open up our hearts to understanding how big and glorious he truly is and what he is capable of doing. Our continuous relationship with God will grow when we walk through the challenges of life with him and realize our dependence on him. As you go through your walk of life in Christ, you will learn that things will not always be according to your plan, but that is perfectly fine. It is in those moments that you truly discover that He is who/what gives our lives true peace and joy.
