Most Holy Trinity

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit!

We begin every prayer with the Sign of the Cross, intoning the words mentioned above.

Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity! What an amazing day to praise our Triune God, one God in three persons!

Sometimes, it’s difficult to wrap our heads around this mystery.  One God, yet 3 different and distinct natures.  Many years ago, I remember a priest explaining it this way:  imagine water in its liquid form; yet, put this liquid in the freezer and it turns into ice; or, put it in a pot on the stove, and it turns to steam! Yet, it’s the same original substance, just in 3 different forms.

And, just like water, ice, and steam, all have distinct functions, so too with the Most Holy Trinity.  God, our Father, is the creator of the entire universe, including you and me. God, the Son, was sent down to earth for our redemption, living among us as a human person, feeling pain, joy, suffering, gratitude, humility, anger, frustration, … all the emotions that we go through. And God, the Holy Spirit, sent down upon the apostles last week in the feast of Pentecost, and conferred on us the day we were confirmed.

We’re Blessed

What a wonderful God we have, who loves us so completely as to create us, come down to earth to die for us, and to shower us with gifts to fortify us through our life journey. We are blessed to be the people the Lord has chosen to be his own, as is written in the Responsorial Psalm.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
