Description
Do you carry any wounds? I don’t mean were you recently shot! I mean do you have any wounds from the past or the present: emotional, spiritual, moral or psychological? If so, this book is for you. It was written precisely to offer some answers for ‘the wounded of today’ and I can tell you, many are wounded. And the wounds need not just diagnosis; they need to be healed.
In “Word For A Wounded World” (Volume One), Fr. Maurice Emelu addresses the wounds many received at one time or another. These wounds perhaps came from those who were closest to us and we trusted; a spouse who betrayed us, a parent, a guardian, a leader who abused us as children or someone in our family, friends or colleagues who, like Brutus, stabbed the dagger of betrayal in our backs, a pastor from our church who caused scandal and wounded our precious faith, government bodies who unleash a wave of injustice, corruption and bad blood in the polity, a neighbor who gossips and hurts our reputation, an extremist who takes up arms and murders the innocent!
Deep wounds also come from untold hardships and poverty that can lead people to doing things that they don’t want to do. At times the suffering can become so intense that many cry out like Jesus, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Using his life and ministry experiences as a priest and retreat-preacher, the author addresses many of the wounded, going through the sources as well as suggesting ways and means of healing, reconciliation and peace to the wounded heart and a wounded people.
Hence, every chapter of the book has been tailored to address a word to a particular wound. The entire work is designed to lead the reader into the wealth of integral healing and peace found in the rich Christian heritage and principles.
