God’s covenant with David was not a temporary agreement. It was an eternal commitment that shows how God’s love and mercy remain active in the lives of people who seek Him. This love was manifested in the life of Solomon, who succeeded his father and continued the loving relationship he had with God by fulfilling his dream of building a temple worthy of God.
Through Solomon, God proved to His people that our efforts to build the right place for Him in our lives matter. For He dwells in every heart that shows good will. God wants to make a home in every willing heart. Jesus said: “Everyone who loves me will listen to my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and dwell with them.”
Those who make room for Jesus do good wherever they are because God is not confined to the walls of the temple, God dwells in the hearts of all who do His holy will.
For Us and In Us
A man who refused to convert to Christianity sent his stubborn son to join a catechism class at church just to get him away from home after school. His friends were surprised and ridiculed him for letting his son go to church even though he was an unbeliever.
A few weeks later, he began to notice good changes in his son’s behavior. When his friends asked him if he wanted his son to become a Christian, he replied: “Whatever they are doing to him in this place is good, and if being a Christian makes it permanent for him, then so be it”. God uses people to work for us and in us.
No Limits
The people who brought the sick and demon-possessed to Jesus in the Gospel knew that God’s work is not limited to activities in Churches, temples, or mosques. God’s work becomes real and visible when we fulfill the requirements of His covenant of love by drawing people to Him through our goodwill and actions. For God never grows weary of giving us His grace whenever and wherever we call upon Him. He is the covenant keeping God, the Ark at the center of our lives, gathering us together for His glory.
